Our Lab Obtained the Sino-British Supports for Major International Projects from the Nature Science Foundation of China and UK Natural Environment Research Council

According to the Nature Science Foundation of China, after two rounds of review, the project “Increasing Resilience to Natural Hazards in Earthquake Prone Regions of China" jointly applied by our lab and Cardiff University had been endowed with supports. Applicants of our lab and British side are respectively Professor Huang Runqiu and Professor Tristram Hales. It is the highest level of international cooperation project in China that our lab has ever obtained, which marks that our lab's international cooperation has embarked on a new level. This Sino-British major cooperation project was jointly proposed by NSFC, NERC and ESRC. After discussion, the priority cooperation field in 2015 had been determined as natural hazards (Increasing Resilience to Natural Hazards in Earthquake Prone Regions in China). There were 16 effective application projects, in which only 6 projects had obtained supports after joint review by China and UK.

The runtime of the project will last for three years, from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018. During this time, researchers from our lab and researchers from British side will jointly delve into the space-time evolution regularity, mechanism and risk assessment of secondary geological hazards after Wenchuan Earthquake.
